A Brief Introduction

Submitted by seth on January 6, 2006 - 11:16pm.

In fairness to those reading Enrichr articles I thought that I should remove the cloak of anonymity and reveal a bit about myself. I work in real estate. Though there really isn’t a title for what I do, my colleagues refer to me as a closer. I find and close deals for real estate investors. The investors turn around and add value to the deals I bring to them and I am paid a percentage of their added value.

I have been involved in sales for about ten years. (Or longer if you consider the lawn care services I was selling as a pre pubescent). My most interesting sales experiences have been while in business for myself selling mattresses out of a storage unit to pay for my college education. Additionally, I worked a couple of years as a negotiator for a law firm.

I have very large dreams, which I aim to fulfill. My dreams are larger than myself and are meant to benefit others. I consider my large dreams to be some sort of mission in life. I believe that realizing such dreams brings great meaning to mine in return.

One dream I wish to live over and over again is to relieve my friends in Latin America of their impoverished conditions. Their happiness seems so easily secured if prosperous people can advocate their needs. They need but the chance to improve their life to do so. I am too young to say that my life has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of Latin America. However, my life intention is to use all methods available to elevate their prospects of happiness.

Several years ago when Marcus and I first started discussing substantive life plans, we thought the conversation should be limited to only those we knew and greatly respected. As we have matured, our self awareness has convinced us that we have a long way to go to count ourselves truly successful in every area of our life. We decided that having conversations with a much larger group of people about success is one way we can increase our strides to accomplishing personal excellence.

Feel free to engage in this larger than life discussion about success by replying to the articles, blogs, or forums. It seems that by engaging in a discussion larger than ourselves we increase our capacity for greatness simply because we create a bigger expectation from our lives. There's one
way to find out.

Whats the one thing, that if you knew it and knew that you knew it, would be the thing that you would need to know, in order to take yourself to the next level? or : How do you get to know, what you need to know, when you dont even know, what you need to know and when you need to know it, You Know?

you have a funny way of asking. i am not sure if i can take your question literally. i will answer it in a literal way even though i am not sure you are asking for that. if there is any single thing that i need to know, and i know that i know it that will bring me to the next level, it is that God wants me to be excellent. this might sound ridiculous, especially if you don't believe in God. I believe and so it isn't ridiculous to me. the thing that helps me about this is that something much more powerful than me can aid me in bettering myself. if this greater power desires that i become better than my chances of success depend only on me working alongside this greater power for my improvement. this is a great empowering belief because it feels inevitable that i can improve with the help of an all powerful force on my side.

as for the how do i get to know what i don't know? even though i don't know what i don't know, i still know others who might know what i don't know. maybe if i keep asking others that know things i don't know, then i can always be learning more which will close the gap on the things i don't know (even though it will never close the gap on things i don't know that i don't know).

that is alot to chew on.
